About Austin

The Live Music Capital of the World” (Austin’s official slogan) offers more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city,* many of which are concentrated in downtown neighborhoods within easy access of the Winter Conference hotel. The longest-running concert music program on U.S. television, Austin City Limits, is recorded at ACL Live at The Moody Theater at the W Hotel, also located downtown.

Winter Conference attendees seeking outdoor activity before or after the meeting may enjoy the boardwalk or the Hike and Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake, a river-like reservoir on the Colorado River in downtown Austin.

Families visiting Austin enjoy the Austin Zoo, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, or nearby Texas Hill Country towns and attractions such as the Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort in New Braunfels. In nearby San Marcos, the San Marcos River Walkway, the six-acre wooden playground at the Children’s Park and year-round kayaking and tubing on the river are among popular attractions. And most visitors find something to love about Austin cuisine, whether it’s Texas barbeque, Tex-Mex or crawfish and oyster specialties.
