The AAO Donated Orthodontic Services program enables patients who could not otherwise afford orthodontic treatment to be treated. The AAO collaborates with the Dental Lifeline Network (formerly the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped) to offer the DOS program. Dental Lifeline Network screens patient applicants for treatment and refers those who are financially qualified to participating AAO members, who provide services on a pro bono basis.

With five states participating in the DOS program, a total of more than 380 AAO members have joined the AAO DOS as providers and a total of more than 400 patients are in treatment. The states in which the AAO DOS program operates are New Jersey, Rhode Island, Illinois, Indiana and Kansas. The AAO is now working to expand the program to additional states.

Individuals, Orthodontic Suppliers Invited to Support the DOS Program

The DOS program is the official charity for the 2014 Annual Session, which will be April 25-29 in New Orleans. Contributions may be made at registration and on-site in New Orleans.

Corporate contributions to the AAO DOS program are also now being accepted by the AAO Foundation on behalf of the AAO DOS program.

All funds donated to the foundation for the DOS program will be used solely for DOS program expenses and may not be applied to any existing AAOF pledge. To make a contribution, make a check payable to the AAO Foundation and write “AAO DOS Program” on the memo line. Or, you may attach a separate note indicating that your contribution is restricted to the AAO Donated Orthodontic Services program.

Contributions are tax-deductible and you will receive an acknowledgement letter. Send your check to the AAO Foundation, 401 North Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.

The AAO has recognition opportunities for sponsorship level supporters. To learn more about sponsorships, contact Jan Beck at [email protected].

The Northeastern Society of Orthodontists (NESO), a constituent organization within the AAO, last year initiated the business model for AAO DOS program fundraising with generous contributions from DENTSPLY GAC, Shock Doctor and Performance Scrubs.
