The AAO is seeking applicants to recommend to the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) for election to the organization’s Executive Committee for the term 2025-2030.
With affiliate organizations, including the AAO, in more than 120 countries the WFO’s mission is to advance the art and science of orthodontics worldwide by promoting the highest standards of care, education, training, certification, research, and treatment. The WFO provides resources and events for individual members worldwide and support to affiliate organizations.
The candidates to be nominated by the AAO are to succeed the two current North American representatives on the Executive Committee, Dr. Valmy Pangrazio-Kulbersh and Dr. DeWayne McCamish.
To be considered for nomination by the AAO Board of Trustees as a North American representative on the WFO Executive Committee, interested candidates should send a cover letter and a CV (no more than five pages) by November 15, 2024 to:

The WFO will also select an individual to fill the position of Regional Membership Chair (RMC) for North America. This new position will report to the Executive Committee and include attendance at regional and national meetings to promote WFO membership. Applicants are encouraged to express interest in both the Executive Committee and Regional Membership Chair positions.

Serving on the WFO Executive Committee
- Candidates to serve as North American representatives on the Executive Committee and as Regional Membership Chair must be members of the WFO and of the AAO.
- The election of EC members and approval of RMCs will take place during the WFO Council meeting on October 21, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during a meeting held in conjunction with the WFO International Orthodontic Congress (IOC).
- Extensive experience in association governance (such as the presidency of a national or regional orthodontic organization), association management, and scientific program organization is expected of all EC members.
- Experience as an orthodontic educator is also desired for EC members.
- Each EC member is required to attend quarterly Sunday meetings on Zoom, even if traveling. Meetings are scheduled early on Sunday mornings in North America due to the distribution of EC members in six regions worldwide.
- Each EC member also works on several WFO subcommittees and task forces, many of which are often engaged in large-scale projects requiring frequent work and communication via email as well as periodic group meetings on Zoom.
