The AAO is seeking member applicants from North America to nominate for a position on the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) Executive Committee (EC). The AAO Board of Trustees will select a nominee to serve on the EC from 2026 – 2030, to fill a vacancy of a position representing North America. 

Upon review of all nominations, the WFO EC will finalize the appointment during its meeting in April 2026, held in conjunction with the AAO Annual Session in Orlando, Florida. 

With affiliate organizations, including the AAO, in more than 120 countries, the WFO’s mission is to advance the art and science of orthodontics worldwide by promoting the highest standards of care, education, training, certification, research, and treatment. The WFO hosts the International Orthodontic Congress every five years, provides ongoing support to affiliate organizations and offers resources for individual members worldwide.
 
To be considered for nomination by the AAO Board of Trustees as a North American representative on the WFO Executive Committee, candidates should  submit the following by March 13, 2026: 

  • A cover letter expressing interest in the position, including a brief vision statement outlining how the nominee intends to contribute to the WFO and advance its global mission. 
  • The letter should also state that the nominee is willing and able to serve on the WFO Executive Committee for the remainder of the 2025 – 2030 term. 
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV) of no more than five pages.

About the WFO Executive Committee  
● Candidates to serve as a North American representative on the Executive Committee must be members of the WFO and of the AAO. 

● Extensive experience in association governance (such as the presidency of a national or regional orthodontic organization), association management, and scientific program organization is expected of all EC members.  
 
● Experience as an orthodontic educator is also desired for EC members. 
 
● Each EC member is required to attend quarterly Sunday meetings on Zoom, even if traveling. Meetings are scheduled early on Sunday mornings in North America due to the distribution of EC members in six regions worldwide. 
 
● Each EC member also works on several WFO subcommittees and task forces, many of which are often engaged in large-scale projects requiring frequent work and communication via email as well as periodic group meetings on Zoom.  
 
● The WFO EC typically meets in person during the AAO Annual Session and during the meeting, hosts affiliate organization presidents at the Annual Session AAO/WFO Presidents’ Breakfast.
