The AAO governance study continues in an effort to determine whether the current governance model will meet future needs and enable the AAO to remain relevant to its members and the public. As part of the study, the AAO recently hosted a stakeholders' meeting in St. Louis. The nearly 30 participants included representatives designated by the constituents along with residents and new and younger members. Discussion topics included AAO/constituent/component relations, evaluation of councils, council appointments, leadership term limits, and increasing diversity and member engagement in leadership. The governance study task force will present recommendations to the AAO Board during the February meeting.
