Request for AAO Retired Status

Eligibility requirements: Orthodontists who have retired from orthodontic practice, teaching and research, are AAO members in good standing at the time of retirement, and have been members for at least 15 cumulative years (excluding student membership), may transition to retired status, and enjoy the privileges of membership at no cost. AAO understands that there are scenarios where a member may still be involved in orthodontics in some capacity and therefore are providing the following exceptions: Members who work at any CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) or CDAC (Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada) accredited dental school or orthodontic residency program in the United States or Canada and/or provide locum tenens coverage for up to a cumulative total of 416 hours per year.
