Many orthodontists find that high-level leadership skill is an important key to success and fulfillment in their practices, as well as outside situations including family life and community service.

The AAO is now launching a program specifically for female members that will focus on maximizing leadership talent. Register now for the Women’s Leadership Challenge, encompassing 10 one-hour programs (two per month) starting in January and extending through May 2023.

Planned by the AAO Special Committee on Women Orthodontists, the program is based on the international bestselling book by Barry Posner and Jim Kouzes, The Leadership Challenge: How to Make Extraordinary Things Happen in Organizations (6th edition). The AAO is implementing this program in response to interest expressed by female members and to accelerate the readiness of women in orthodontics to take on key leadership roles and become outstanding problem-solvers across many situations.

Each month’s initial, live virtual interactive session will be led by two noted experts on women and leadership, Tanya Monsef and Maame Afon.

The presenters have been teaching women this course for eight years. Each month’s second virtual session will be an eight-person live group discussion led by AAO member facilitators.

Consider taking the Women’s Leadership Challenge and join other women in orthodontics seeking to reach new levels of effectiveness as leaders.
