ABO Clinical Examination Update
The American Board of Orthodontics certified or recertified 229 examinees during the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2022, including the February 2022 Scenario-based Clinical Examination held at Pearson-Vue Testing Centers Worldwide. The February examination had a pass rate of 78.8%. In addition, the ABO certified or recertified 123 examinees during the 2nd quarter of 2022 via the mail-in or online BCE option to complete their banking process. A complete listing of newly certified/recertified orthodontists by constituency can be found HERE. The October 2022 Clinical Examination was also held with results to be announced.
There will be one Scenario-based Clinical Examination held in 2023. The examination dates are February 23-24, 2023 at Pearson-Vue Testing Centers Worldwide. Online registration is currently open and registration has been extended until November 11, 2022, or when full.
Certification Renewal Examinations are required every 10 years to keep your board certification in an active status (unless Lifetime status is in place). The process may begin no earlier than 36 months prior to the expiration date printed on your board certified orthodontist certificate.

ABO Written Examination Update
The ABO Written Examination was administered to 412 examinees on April 5, 2022, at Pearson-Vue Centers in the United States and Canada with a 90% pass rate.
The 2023 Written Examination will be held on April 4. Registration opens November 9, 2022. In preparation for the 2023 Written Examination, the Written Exam Reading List has been updated and is located on the ABO website.
