While the use of 2D lateral head radiographs to measure condyle-fossa changes during Class II orthopedic treatment has been associated with a high degree of measurement error, 3D CBCT has served to quantify changes in the temporomandibular joint with more accurate results.  This presentation explores a strategy to use 3D CBCT imaging to confirm condylar position during treatment to improve stability and reduce relapse during Class II Herbst therapy in orthodontic practice. Emphasizing the complexity of treatment timing, methods, and clinical decision-making, attendees will gain insights into producing consistent, long-term results for growing adolescent patients treated with the Herbst Appliance.
