The AAO is calling on any members who may want to donate spare personal protective equipment (PPE) such as traditional face masks, 3D printed masks and gowns to local frontline responders and other COVID-19 healthcare providers. For 3D printed masks made in your office, please be sure to check with applicable state and federal regulatory agencies or boards to ensure that any mask you create conforms with applicable requirements.

Also, please note that the AAO is issuing this call to members subject to being sensitive to members’ own potential need for PPE for emergency care situations and/or for when your own practice may reopen, and you should consider your practice’s potential needs. If you are able to donate PPE to healthcare providers who are currently battling COVID-19, the AAO strongly supports such efforts.

This is an opportunity for orthodontists to support our brothers and sisters in healthcare and provide them with the resources necessary to stop the spread of COVID-19. With PPE supplies running on short supply in high-demand areas, orthodontists have a unique opportunity to serve the community during this critical time.
