This unique event provides AAO members with the opportunity to learn about key legislative and regulatory issues affecting the specialty, engage directly with policymakers, and help shape the future of orthodontics through advocacy.
How to Receive an Invitation
Invitations to attend the 2027 Professional Advocacy Conference will be extended to eligible AAOPAC contributors beginning in October 2026.
Invitations will be distributed on a rolling basis until the conference reaches capacity (120 attendees). Early acceptance is encouraged, as space is limited.

No prior advocacy experience is required.

Monday, March 8: Day 1
Professional Advocacy Conference Begins
Starting at 1:00 pm: Conference registration
- Conference registration and welcome
- Advocacy briefings and issue updates

- Networking opportunities with AAO leaders and fellow attendees
Private evening reception with Members of Congress and congressional staff
Tuesday, March 9: Day 2
Capitol Hill Advocacy Meetings
8:00 am – 2:30 pm
- Capitol Hill advocacy meetings
- Meetings with legislators representing attendees’ home states and districts
- Congressional office visits coordinated by the AAO Advocacy Team
- Conference wrap-up and closing remarks
Travel & Accommodations – Washington, D.C.
Hotel information, room block details, and travel recommendations will be provided to invited attendees closer to the event date.
Attendees should plan to arrive in Washington, D.C., no later than Monday morning and schedule return travel no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday to allow sufficient time for Capitol Hill meetings.
For AAO members applying for a travel stipend, the issuance of the stipend will depend on your complete participation in the event – including attending all Capitol Hill meetings. By scheduling a departure earlier than 5pm, you agree to forfeit your stipend.
