American Dental Association committees and their respective working groups address a variety of standards. For example, manufacturing standards established by committee processes ensure that any orthodontic wire approved by the FDA will fit any corresponding bracket.
The AAO is nominating prospective volunteers to serve on new American Dental Association Consensus Bodies (CBs) that are replacing the current ADA Standards Committees on Dental Products and Dental Informatics (SCDP and SCDI) and the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for ISO Technical Committee 106 on Dentistry (U.S. TAG).
AAO members are invited to express interest in Consensus Body positions by March 22, 2024.
The reorganization of the ADA Standards Program is intended to enhance alignment between national and international standards, provide better utilization of subject matter experts and better address new and emerging technologies.
The new ADA CBs will address both national and international standards, each with their own focused scope of work. CB members will cast votes to officially approve national standards and cast U.S. votes pertaining to international standards.
