Dr. Patrick Assioun opened his first orthodontic practice in 2002 following completion of his orthodontic residency at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While running his first practice, he quickly realized that to build a successful clinic, he not only needed to provide quality clinical care to his patients but also needed to master the administrative responsibilities as well. And so his vision was born – building a dental organization where doctors could focus on what they were passionate about, specifically caring for patients, while alleviating their administrative burden and therefore improving the work-life balance.
Since 2002, Passion Dental has expanded from stand alone specialty offices to a wide array of multi-specialty practices, providing patients with a broad spectrum of dental services under one roof including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics and endodontics. Currently, Passion Dental operates dental practices across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Upstate New York.

When? Sunday, April 23, 2023 @ 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Where? Chicago, Illinois, McCormick Place West Building, Level 3, North Pre-Function

Event Logistics

  • The event is located at the McCormick Place West Building on the third level in the North Pre-Function space outside of the Skyline Ballroom/W375E. Directions and parking information can be found here.
  • The room will have two areas for employer booths and roundtable discussions. Event maps will be placed at the entrance to help you locate an employer or discussion topic. There will also be signs at each booth or table.
  • The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. You can begin to visit employer booths or join roundtable discussions that interest you.
  • Roundtables will be open seating for about 10 people each to encourage a comfortable environment for small group discussions and interactions. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This will be added prior to the event. Stay tuned!

What to Bring:

  • Padfolio or portfolio briefcase
  • Copies of CV/resume
  • Business cards
  • List of organizations/questions
  • Elevator speech
  • Professional attire
  • Notepad or other device

Preparation Tips:

  • Ensure your curriculum vitae/resume is accurate and up-to-date. The American Student Dental Association offers a great resource with CV/resume tips. Don’t forget to bring plenty of copies with you as well as business cards if you have them. It is easiest to store these items in a portfolio briefcase.
  • Learn about participating employers and their available opportunities. This will help you identify and prioritize which booths to visit and how to plan your conversations with representatives.
  • After learning about each employer, prepare a list of specific and focused questions you would like to ask. You may want to reference this list before visiting each booth. For example, are you interested in learning about their hiring process, continuing education opportunities, or the community in which they practice? Did you learn something interesting about their practice that you would like to know more about?
  • Develop and practice an elevator pitch. This is a brief introduction (about 30 seconds) that summarizes who you are, your career interests, and what you have to offer prospective employers such as relevant skills, accomplishments, and experiences. Always greet representatives with a firm handshake, smile, and positive attitude!
  • Dress professionally and appropriately to deliver a positive first impression.
  • Allow yourself enough time to visit as many booths as you can. Again, you may want to prioritize the employers you want to visit the most; however, keep an open mind and visit booths that aren’t on your list as well. You might be surprised!
  • Bring something with you to take notes. You may want to make note of contact information, conversations you had with representatives, and information you want to remember about each employer.
  • Ask representatives for their business cards/contact information and follow up with them after the event. This is an opportunity to thank representatives for taking the time to speak with you and to reference your conversation, express interest in an opportunity, and remind them of your qualifications. This will foster communication beyond the event.
