The former AAO Tech Talk Blog is now an interactive, private group on Facebook. AAO members interested in all technology topics relevant to orthodontic practice are invited to join the group.

Created by the AAO Committee on Technology (CTECH), the Facebook page is actively moderated by CTECH, including Drs. Neal Kravitz and Matt Larson. Currently trending topics on the page include 3D printing – including resin and metal printing, designing a laboratory incorporating 3D printers, in-office aligners, customized brackets, artificial intelligence, smartphone applications and relevant AAO announcements

“The Facebook page allows a venue for CTECH to post on emerging trends and offer tips for implementing technology in your office, but we also really want the communication to flow in both directions,” says Dr. Larson.

“All types of questions from group members are welcome,” says Dr. Kravitz.  “We work to ensure every question asked gets a response.  I often tag a member of CTECH or another AAO member who is an expert in the technology to help answer specific questions.”

An additional goal of the page is to provide multi-level content on the use of clinical and practice management technologies.

“We encourage and support topics at all levels of technology implementation,” says Dr. Larson. “Whether you’re looking for advice on setup of your first in-office printing lab, or you have expertise in a technology and would like to discuss it with other advanced users, you should be able to find – or start – a helpful conversation.”

“We invite all AAO orthodontists to join and post often!” says Dr. Kravitz.
