Please join the AAO Council on Orthodontic Education in recognizing orthodontic educators selected to receive support for advancing their professional development during 2026-27:

Full-Time Faculty Teaching Fellowship
Pictured 1st, 2nd and 3rd from left, Drs. Flavio Copello (University of Maryland), Xianrui Yang (University of Florida)and Wenjing Yu (University of Pennsylvania) received the first of two annual $30,000 AAO Full-Time Faculty Teaching Fellowship grants. Recipients must commit to remain in full-time teaching for one year for each fellowship year after their second award year concludes, thereby committing to at least four years of full-time teaching.

Craniofacial Anomalies and Special Care Training Award
Pictured at far right, Dr. Waheed Awotoye (University of Iowa) received the one-time, $30,000 AAO Craniofacial Anomalies and Special Care Training Award, presented to a candidate who will be enrolled in a CODA-accredited craniofacial anomalies and special care program for the coming year and will be considered full-time faculty.

Institute for Teaching & Learning Program (ITL) Fellowship
Drs. Shaza Abass (University of Texas Health Sciences at San Antonio), Tanya Al-Talib (University of Nevada, Las Vegas), Sandra Andari (University of Texas Health Sciences at San Antonio) and Fayrouz Bazina (University of Pittsburgh) were selected to receive scholarships from the AAO to attend the Institute for Teaching and Learning, a 4-day program focused on refining teaching skills and student interactions.

Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program (CAAMP) Fellowship
Drs. Po-Jung Chen (Medical University of South Carolina) and Mohammed Elnagar (University of Illinois-Chicago) will receive scholarships from the AAO to attend the 2-day Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program, focused on effective leadership and management of departments and programs.

Applications for 2027-28 awards will open this fall.
